FAQ
Hi, my name is Jen, and I’m obsessed with pretty spaces.
Below I’ve answered some frequently asked questions I’ve gotten since starting this blog.
Have any other questions for me? Ask here.
Are you an interior designer/architect? Do you have a degree in either?
Nope, I am a graphic designer. I have a BFA from The University of Tulsa.
I just love design and architecture and started this blog as a place to store and share the inspiring places I find online.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Houston, TX.
I’ve lived in Tulsa, OK since 2004.
Is your house as amazing as the places you post?
Not yet, but I hope one day it will be!
Randy (my fiance) and I are looking for a house to buy and renovate sometime in the next year. In the meantime, our rental house is perfect for us, even though it’s not very pretty.
What is your personal style when it comes to decorating? What does your dream house look like?
I’m kind of torn, because while I’m attracted to clean modern design, I’ve never tried actually living in a space like that. Randy is not really into ultra modern design and would never go for it, and my parents are pretty traditional too so that’s what I grew up with.
I think for a more realistic and livable space for myself, I still prefer a clean look but with more rustic, vintage, and personal touches. I love high ceilings, wood floors and exposed beams. I think the most important thing for me is tons of natural light in a space. I can’t stand feeling like I’m in a cave. Randy has a lot more traditional taste, so it will be interesting to see how we compromise on design and decor choices in our future home and make it our own.
I’ve noticed you mostly post white rooms or very minimalistic rooms. Is that your preferred style? Do you dislike colorful rooms?
I do prefer bright airy spaces, but not necessarily all white. I definitely don’t have anything against colorful spaces and I try to post a variety, but I guess maybe I’m subconsciously more attracted to clean white rooms? I lust after them knowing I can never have a white couch with my black dog! : )
That said, I absolutely LOVE bright pops of color in white rooms. If you browse my archive, you’ll find quite a few colorful spaces for inspiration.
Where do you get your pictures? Where can I find more pictures of a pretty space I saw on your blog?
I find most of the pictures I post on the many design blogs I read and on Flickr. I do not own these images, which is why I always include click-through links to the sites where I find them.
If you’re looking for more pictures or more info about a space you see on my blog, click the picture to go to the source. Often I will just select my favorites to post and you can find more on the original site.
